Yes there is a sweet romance where an Immortal meets a gifted woman and they are immediately attracted to each other and she is ultimately transformed. Then you have the usual crazy vampires trying to kill everyone. I was hoping there would be a difference this time as Heather says she's an old fashioned kind of woman-meaning she wasn't going to have sex after just meeting Ethan and Ethan making an attempt to actually court her first before stripping her bare and ravishing her, but not really. OK they didn't have sex after meeting for the first time, but rather the third time they meet when she wakes up with Ethan in bed with her. Heather is a gifted human who has the ability to read minds, but has been having a recurring dream of a vampire attack involving Ethan and so they meet where she dreamed this takes place. There is some drama with Gershom who is trying his best to start Armageddon with yet another vampire army and how Heather fits into his devious plans. It was interesting to read about continuing characters from past books such as Marcus and Ami's child Adira and Cliff the vampire who has been working with the Immortal Guardians. I also was interested in Aidan on how he is doing hunting for a gifted woman to call his own and ease the loneliness of immortality. I hope he finds the one in the next book, but I also hope it isn't as predictable as Ethan and Heather's romance. How about some courting It just isn't interesting if it's a sure thing when two people meet and then go straight to sex with their declaration of finding their soul mate. How about something fresh and original and not just plugging in different names into the same old plot I can only hope in the next book.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.Another great story for this series!By Sonya KillianHeather Lane is a telepath, she has been able to keep her secret from the world by passing herself off as a FACS specialist. She is called in to read the facial expressions of many men and women from all the different branches of the government. But in the last year she has been having the same dream of battling vampires and helping a sexy mysterious man/vampire in the battle. After so long of having this dream and finding the field where her dream takes place, she decides to reenact her dream, in hopes to find this mystery man.Ethan is a little over a century old immortal. After a long night of hunting vampires, he smells more and seeks them out. He sees seven vampires heading toward a woman, Ethan runs to protect her and destroy the vampires. While battling the vampires, he tells this women, who was shooting them to shoot for the main arteries.I enjoyed this story. Ethan and Heather are a cute couple. The way they come together I felt was different then the rest of the married immortals. What a great story. I loved all the twists and turns, the battles, and how the author introduces Heather into the fold of the immortals world. I was so happy that Ethan's story has finally been written. Heather is perfect for Ethan.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.A good addition to the seriesBy LunaAmbrosiaWhile I enjoyed this story and the characters overall, I have to admit the books are getting a bit repetitive and almost too much as far as the big bad. After finishing this one, I have no idea how the author plans on keeping it up in order to give everyone (hopefully) a HEA. You get a feeling of “what can possibly come next!” with each new book. Obviously, this doesn’t distract me from eagerly awaiting the next one because I want these characters to be happy.As far as the story itself goes, I loved Ethan from Night Unbound. I strangely felt like I had known Heather for a long time, even though she’s not in any previous books. Their courtship has few real bumps or issues (despite what’s going on around them) and it’s relatively straight and to the point (which is not always a bad thing). While there is not a lot of romance or time spent on the relationship, these two characters seem right for each other from the start and it doesn’t feel rushed to me.Now, my biggest issue with this particular storyline is the whole Ethan and Lisette used to be lovers thing. While it didn’t really bother me in Night Unbound, it added elements to this story that I did not at all like. For better or worse, Ethan thought he loved Lisette, which automatically makes anything he does with her slightly suspect, even if they are doing nothing wrong and are 100% devoted to their partners. You cannot wish more than a century of intimacy like that away, and I feel the author tried to do this here. There’s a scene when Lisette is upset that I thought was SO inappropriate (you don’t just walk into your former lover’s room when you know he is (likely naked) with his current lover for comfort). The history is finally revealed and neatly (too neatly) glossed over.
