I love Loretta Lynn, but I grew up in the midwest and many of these recipes are a wonderful reminder of home. Most of them require just a few basic ingredients, and the instructions are simple to follow. Anyone who likes southern/comfort foods would like this book. The stories and photos that accompany the recipes are also a nice addition to the cookbook. I loved the little stories Loretta had sprinkled thorughout the book. The recipes are first rate, real good ol' country cooking. Amazingly there was even a recipe for possum in the book! Haven't tried that one yet.... This is a really good basic country cooking manual, good family recipes, and even has a few "fancy" recipes like chow mein here and there. Make no mistake, this is not The Silver Palate or Martha Stewart. But get the book, crank up some good music like "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin'" and get that cast iron skillet out and commence to cook it country!See all 61 customer reviews...
