While this has some good workouts for overall fitness which incorporate a lot of Olympic Lifts, or variations, it's heavy on kettlebell training. The author's background from what I gathered from the book itself and the Internet is in kettlebell training. I was looking to get stronger at the Olympic lifts. While this book does have some good routines, it strikes me as more of a fitness focused book as opposed to performance focused. That is, good for teaching you some workouts, but not so much for promoting optimal performance at the two Olympic lifts.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Can you even lift bro Randolph will teach you :)By AwesomeBEASuper informative. I'm not looking to train on an intense level, just improve overall strength (and possible impress my boyfriend and out-lift him). The first thing this book clarified is the difference between "lifting weights" and "weightlifting." Weightlifting is what this book entails. It's the snatch and the clean and jerk one sees the athletes do on the Olympics. What's awesome in this book is that the author, Dave Randolph supplies the reader with Phases for their training. There are three different phases. Each if those phases are designed to train in technique. In phase 1, there is hardly in any weight used at all, the reader asked to use things like PVC pipe to ensurensure they are doing proper lifting. I really like that because Randolph wants to make sure no one starts into lifting and runs into serious injury.Randolph supplies the reader with three different workout sections during each of the three phases, which are broken down to a month per section. There is the warm-up, main workout and conditioning to finish up each workout session. I think authors in other books I have read primarily focus on the lift, but not the overall for the reader. Randolph's perspective has been very refreshing.2 of 3 people found the following review helpful.Get Swoll Son!By ZaabaaHave you ever wanted to get ripped Of course you have. Everyone has. I wanted to get ripped too. So I bought this book. Now I am ripped. But seriously folks, this is a great book for someone interested in weightlifting, even if, like me, they are not, and will never be, at Olympic level. This book contains a helpful and balanced mix of many things relating to weightlifting. It even talks about the history and safety of Olympic weightlifting. It is clear that this author, a sixth degree black belt, whaaat, is dedicated and passionate about his love of lifting weights and inspiring others to do so. This book contains detailed explanation of The Split Jerk, Full Snatch, Burpee and many other serious weightlifting power poses! It has premade programs for all levels and even gives dietary advice so you can optimize your muscle gain. If you hurt yourself don't despair; this book contains many muscle fixes for when weightlifting goes wrong (wwlgw). But really, a great book and awesome place to start for those wanting to get into weightlifting.See all 9 customer reviews...
