DON'T BELIEVE IT.They are both STAY AT HOME MOMS (one worked for a little while with the first kid until she could pop out the second.) They spend way too long talking about how it's the most important job yadda yadda and how one of them gave up a six figure income (uh...congrats). I didn't need the rationalization, and see no point to it being included. I found it insulting and an attack on my choice to work. I can't imagine how a mother who doesn't HAVE a choice would feel after those pages. Extra helping of mom guilt to goThus the entire book is missing the perspective of a mother who isn't home all day. For example: Have your play dates mid-morning during the week! Kindergarten is awful because someone else will be with your kids all day! Yeah, handled that YEARS before kindergarten. Another useless chapter. Also, NOTHING about how to make the most of the much less time a full-time employed mother gets with her kids.There is a strong assumption through the entire book of how most of the house and kids are the mother's responsibility. There's bits here and there about encouraging your husband to help out but it's clear it's fundamentally the mother's responsibility to get someone to do whatever it is. Yeah, no. Out of date attitude and entirely out of line when both parents work full time. No useful suggestions for how to negotiate the changes, just a new shine on old attitudes.There are here and there useful things in here. Not nearly enough to slog through the SAHM bias (also, note, they have solid incomes even if one claims they don't have much money). Also, if you work, a lot of the issues you face are completely skipped or handled in at best a useless and at worst insulting manner (some are mentioned briefly when talking about infants, since one did work for a little while. If you expect any suggestions for toddler-hood though, good luck! Apparently by that time all good moms are home all day.).Given one of the biggest differences in parenting is stay at home versus working full time......this book's claim to two perspectives fails.If you work, skip it. All this book will do is waste what little time you have, irritate you, and not give you enough useful suggestions to make any of that worthwhile.4 of 5 people found the following review helpful.Not for mothers who have interest in breastfeeding.By ColoradoMommyThis book is an outdated hack job of modern parenting by two women who see raising children from a very limited and unfortunate position. Breastfeeding I've worked hard to breast feed my child. I take a dim view reading a judge-y woman's take on something that she clearly has no experience doing and is probably bitter about failing at. If you can't do it, that's fine, a good parents feed their babies. I'm a first time mom and they had everything I could have ever needed to know on a personal level in the book. What I especially loved is the way the present all sides and thoughts of a situation and they did all the research for you! I laughed out loud reading this book so many times and so did my husband (who hates reading but read this book because it's so great). I would recommend this book to anyone having a child or who already has one. I borrowed this book from the library and after reading it decided I needed to buy a copy to always have handy for their helpful research and tips. It's just great having a book that came from real moms who had two total different views on how to raise their children.
